Summer Dance Camp

June 6 – July 30
The Decatur Park District’s Summer Dance program offers a variety of classes for ages pre-school through adult. The 4 week session is a great way to sample classes and to keep working on your technique! To register call 217-619-8044.

Monday Classes start on June 6; Tuesday Classes start on June 7. Classes must have minimum of 5 students enrolled to be offered. Max 10 participants per class.
Studio cleaning will take place after each class.

Class Descriptions

Dance with Me allows toddlers and caregivers to interact, using music, movement, songs and creativity.
Intro to Dance (3-5) utilizes creative and age-appropriate activities to develop coordination, body awareness, and dance discipline.
Hip Hop (5 – 9) helps build confidence, cardiovascular strength, and conditioning. No experience required.
Hip Hop (9 – 14) introduces the newest Hip Hop dances, building confidence, strength and conditioning. No experience required.
Ballet Tap Jazz Combo students will learn disciplines of ballet, tap and jazz.
Beginner is designed for dancers with less than 2 years of experience.
Intermediate is designed for dancers with 2-4 years of experience.
Lyrical (10+) is a fusion of ballet, jazz, and modern dance styles. Classes focus on conveying musicality and emotion through movement.
Jazz (6-9) students will learn jazz technique and fun routines in this high energy class.
Tap (6 – 9) and (10 – 16) will focus on technique and fun routines.
Adult Tap 16+ Advanced classes are designed for dancers ages 14+ with 5 or more years of experience

Alexis Riley: is the Cultural Arts Supervisor for the Decatur Park District, joining the staff in January 2019. Alexis has been dancing since she was 8 yrs. old, most recently at ISU where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Management in 2017. Following graduation, she taught preschool – 8th grade dance at Holy Family Parish School in Peoria, Illinois. She joined the Park District dance faculty in January of 2018. “I absolutely love getting to know my students and share my passion for the art of dance with them. I am very excited to continue teaching in Decatur!”
