The Decatur Park District’s Summer Dance program offers a variety of classes for ages pre-school through adult. The 4 week session is a great way to sample classes and to keep working on your technique! To register call 429-3472.

*Dancer must have finished Level IV classes or enrolled in Company Ballet.
Classes must have minimum of 5 students enrolled to be offered. Max 10 participants per class.
Studio cleaning will take place after each class.
Intro to Dance (3-5) utilizes creative and age-appropriate activities to develop coordination, body awareness, and dance discipline.
Hip Hop (5 – 9) and (9-14) helps build confidence, cardiovascular strength, and conditioning. No experience required.
Ballet Tap Combo students aged 6 – 9 will learn disciplines of ballet and tap.
Beginning Ballet (10+) provides classical training, with concentration on technique and combinations across the floor. No experience required.
Lyrical (10+) is a fusion of ballet, jazz, and modern dance styles. Classes focus on conveying musicality and emotion through movement.
Jazz (5-9) students will learn jazz technique and fun routines in this high energy class.
Tap/Jazz Combo students aged 10-13 will learn disciplines of tap and jazz and fun routines.
Tap (5 – 9) will focus on technique and fun routines.
Adult Tap Technique is for ages 14+. Fun routines and technique are highlighted in this 1-hour class.
Advanced Ballet/Tap/Jazz* classes are for dancers who have completed Level IV classes or are enrolled in Company Ballet.
Pointe is for our most advanced Ballet Dancer and works on refinement of technique and artistic expression on Pointe.
Alexis Riley: is the Cultural Arts Supervisor for the Decatur Park District, joining the staff in January 2019. Alexis has been dancing since she was 8 yrs. old, most recently at ISU where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Management in 2017. Following graduation, she taught preschool – 8th grade dance at Holy Family Parish School in Peoria, Illinois. She joined the Park District dance faculty in January of 2018. “I absolutely love getting to know my students and share my passion for the art of dance with them. I am very excited to continue teaching in Decatur!”
Emma Taylor: is a Millikin University graduate and a current DMA graduate student at the University of Illinois. Dancing since age 3, Emma studied ballet with Barbara Degler (Mrs. D) and has also studied with Gretchen Burghart-Bice, Angela Miller, and Sean Morrisey. Emma has performed in many mainstage shows at Little Theatre on the Square and danced competitively with Jan’s Dance Studio as well, receiving the Outstanding Tap Performer Scholarship at the JUMP Dance Competition. Emma has been teaching dance for over 10 years. And is excited to be on staff for the summer at the ARC.
Will Koski: is no stranger to theatre, teaching and performing. His favorite credits include: Tobias in Sweeney Todd (Hawaii Performing Arts Festival) Miss Me, Ripper the Musical and Monsignor O’Hara in Sister Act (Millikin University. Will is the recipient of the 2018 BroadwayWorld Hawaii best actor in a musical award and last year endeared himself to all of us as Assistant Director and Stage Manager for BOSS’s 2019 performances of Aladdin Kids and Mary Poppins. Will Koski is a rising senior at Millikin University, where is studying to receive a BFA in Musical Theatre. He is from Bloomington-Normal, IL.
