Decatur Park District Spring Dance Recital

The Decatur Park District Dance Studio celebrates 12 years of dance instruction with their students performing Rock On! May 10 & 11. Show times are 7 p.m. on May 10 and 11 a.m. & 5 p.m. on May 11 at the Decatur Civic Center Theater. Performances will feature dance students aged 3 – adult and a special performance by the high school senior dancers. The performance features fun tunes from such artists as the Beatles, Bradley Cooper, Journey, Queen and more! Tickets are $8 in advance before May 9 at the Decatur Park District Administrative Office (620 E. Riverside Ave.), by calling 422-5911 or purchase tickets online at www.decatur-parks.org. Tickets are $10 at the door for reserved seating.

Stage Make-Up (ages 9+)

In this 4-day class, students will learn how to exaggerate, diminish, and create facial features to help an actor portray a character.  Facial features, old-age makeup, and bruises and cuts will be covered.  Fee includes personal make-up kit.  Registration deadline: September 28.

Stage Craft: Intro to Technical Theatre (ages 10+)

GDC Auditions on August 27!

Do you love to sing and share your talent with the community? Audition for the Greater Decatur Chorale on August 27 from 6 – 7 p.m. at the Poage Arts & Rec Center (2020 N. Oakland). To audition, prepare a song of your choice and sing it with or without a tape or CD. You may be asked to sight read or perform tonal memory singing, as well. Cookin’ with the Chorale: “It’s a Grand Night for Singing!”

The Decatur Park District will host Cookin’ with the Chorale presented by WAND-17 on May 26 & 27. These free family fun concerts begin at 6 p.m. both days at Fairview Park Pavilion #1 and features over 70 talented vocalists, along with director Ted Hesse and accompanist Anita Gifford. Concessions and hot grills for cooking will be available at 5 p.m.
