To better serve the community and create more equitable access, in joint partnership, the Decatur Park District and Decatur Public Transit are offering additional city bus routes including transportation to community attractions including Splash Cove, the Children’s Museum of Illinois, Scovill Zoo and The Devon Lakeshore Amphitheater.
“Our community has so much to offer residents and transportation is a key component to having access to experiencing all there is to do in Decatur,” stated Stacey Young, President of the Decatur Park District Board of Commissioners. “Partnering with the City to provide these additional bus routes to our facilities just makes sense.”
Daily, a route will run from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. between Splash Cove, the Children’s Museum of Illinois, Scovill Zoo and the Decatur Transit Center every 30 minutes. Additionally, on scheduled show nights, a bus route will run from the Decatur Civic Center to The Devon Lakeshore Amphitheater every 30 minutes beginning at 5:30 p.m. and ending at 10:30 p.m.
All routes continue to be offered free of charge due to COVID-19. Following the Federal Transit Authority guidelines, face masks are still required while riding public transportation. For more details on public routes and schedules, go online to decaturil.gov or call Dispatch at 217-424-2800.
