Group Visits

Take a field trip to Scovill Zoo! For your group of 10 or more, we offer groups and schools guided tours, attraction discounts and more. All groups need to book at least two weeks in advance by calling Scovill Zoo at 217-421-7436. Payment is due at the time of your visit. We accept Visa, Master Card, Check and Cash. Please contact Scovill Zoo for further assistance.

Tours
Each guided tour is approximately 1 hour. Our tours are conducted by our specially trained guides to give you the inside scoop of Scovill Zoo. Tours are $2.75 per person. Self-guided tours are also available for $1.75 per person. Please call 217-421-7436 at least two weeks in advance to plan your tour.

Attractions
Be sure to leave extra time for our unique attractions, the Z.O.&O. Express and the Endangered Species Carousel. Cost to ride the is $1.25 per person while the carousel is $1.25 per rider (Adults standing next to a child ride free). Visitors can also unlock the secrets of Scovill Zoo’s residents with our Zoo Key. This educational tool is available for $2.50 per person.

Trip Tips

Please walk while inside the zoo. Running children may startle the animals, causing them to hide out of view. Skinned hands and knees can spoil the day, too. Keep a headcount; there are a lot of students here during tour season! Name tags with the child’s name and school are very helpful for identifying lost students.
Scovill Zoo has the Zootique Gift Shop and Zoopermarket. Determine whether your students will be allowed to buy souvenirs and snacks before your arrival to the zoo. Plan at least ten to fifteen minutes to get your group through the gift shop.
Limited picnic facilities are available inside the zoo. There are many picnic tables at the edges of the parking area. Facilities are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please advise students to walk slowly when crossing the parking area.
There is a very large and inviting playground at the zoo. You may wish to plan time for your students to enjoy the many challenges of Project Playground.
Restrooms. There are two restroom facilities for your convenience. As you enter the zoo, there are fully accessible restrooms in the gift shop. These restrooms can be entered from the outside, near the entrance to the playground. There are also restrooms near the Herpaquarium.
