Nelson Park Pool

The recent discovery of an underground leak at the Park District’s Nelson Park Pool has resulted in the closing of the facility for the 2008 swim season.

This facility is the hub of summer programming! Play water hoops, enjoy playground facilities and a baby pool.

All pool passes are sold at the Decatur Indoor Sports Center from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday beginning Monday, May 12. Passes are valid from May 24 through the 2008 swim season. Passes are non-transferable and will be revoked if any misuse becomes evident.

Fairview Family Swim Night
Join us for a private swim designed only for families. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Fee        $3.25 per person or $10.00 for family up to 4 children ($1.00 per add'l child)

Jr. Lifeguard Program
Want to be a lifeguard?  Ellis-trained lifeguards put your through the paces as you learn tehniques to prepare you for a real lifeguard job at 16.  Must be entering 5th - 10th grades.  Perfect for youth groups or camp groups!  Call 429-3472 for more information. Call 422-8535 for more information about the Park District's Junior Lifeguard Program. Participants must be entering 5th - 10th grades. Ellis lifeguards put you through the paces as you learn how to prepare and apply for a real guard job when you are 16. This program is perfect for youth groups and groups of campers.

FAIRVIEW PARK FAMILY AQUATIC CENTER

FROM NORTH: Take U.S. Rte. 51 South to Eldorado St. and turn west (right). Continue west on Eldorado St., turning south (left). Fairview Park will be straight ahead. Follow signs through the park to pool.

FROM SOUTH: Take U.S. Rte. 51 North to Main St. and turn west (left). Take West Main to Fairview, turning north (left). Take the next stop light west (left) into park and follow signs to pool.

FROM EAST OR WEST: From I-72, exit at U.S. Rte. 36 East, Exit #133. At the 3rd stoplight, turn south (right) onto Eldorado St. into Fairview Park. Follow signs through the park to pool.

TO NELSON PARK AQUATIC FACILITY

FROM NORTH: From U.S. Rte. 51 South, turn east (left) onto Eldorado St. (U.S. Rte. 36). Follow U.S. Rte. 36 to Nelson Park Blvd. Turn south (right) at the stoplight. Take the second left, and follow signs to the pool.

FROM SOUTH: From U.S. Rte. 51 North, take Lake Shore Drive. Lake Shore Drive will become 22nd Street. At the stop light, turn right to continue on to Lake Shore Dr. into Nelson Park. Follow the sign in the park to turn north (left) to the second left and follow signs to pool.

FROM EAST: From I-72 West, take IL Rte. 47/48 South, Exit #144. Turn south (left) off the exit. At Pershing Road, the street becomes 22nd Street. Follow that across the viaduct; turn east (left) onto U.S. Rte. 36, south (right) to Nelson Park Blvd. and second left and follow signs to pool.

FROM WEST: From I-72 East, take U.S. Rte. 51 South, Exit #141. Turn east (left) onto Eldorado St. (U.S. Rte. 36). Veer right to continue on U.S. Rte. 36. Go through the five stop-light intersection and turn south (right) onto Nelson Park Blvd. and take second left and follow signs to pool.

 

Swim sCHOOL

The Decatur Park District offers swim lessons for ages 6 months through adult, so whether you have yet to swim your first stroke or want to learn a few new ones, you'll find a class to meet your needs!  All lessons will be held at the Fairview Family Aquatic Center.  Register in person at the DISC, 1295 W. Swim School Times & Fees

Each lesson is 35 minutes long and meets at the Fairview Family Aquatic Center, Monday - Thursday, for two weeks.  Cost is $18.00 per resident and $20.00 for non-residents.  Most classes are available four time a day:

9 - 9:35 a.m.

9:45 - 10:20 a.m.

10:30 - 11:05 a.m.

6:30 - 7:05 p.m.
