ArtsDAnce classesIntro I Introduces 3 year-olds to basic dance concepts through the rhythm of music, the imagination of the child, and the motor skills of ballet. Intro II Allows 4 year-old dancers to develop fundamental skills of dance through creative play, using music, drama and ballet. Level I Introduces 6 - 8 year-olds to the basics of jazz, tap and ballet. Level II Continues to develop the skills of jazz, tap and ballet for the 8 - 10 year-old dancer. Level III Designed for students 8 - 10 who have had previous training. Classes are offered in jazz, tap and balllet technique. Level IV For students 9 - 11 who have had previous training. Classes are offered in the jazz, tap and ballet technique. 6 - 8th Grade Combo Designed to introduce jazz and tap to Middle School students. Hip Hop Offered for 3 - 5th graders, 6 - 8th graders and High School students. Company I Designed for the more advanced 6 - 8th grade dancer/performer. Classes include ballet, lyrical, jazz, tap and pre-pointe. Company II For the more advanced 9 - 12th grade dancer/performer. Classes include ballet, lyrical, jazz, tap and pointe. Adult Classes Ballet, jazz and tap available.
Summer 08 dance campTake part in the Park District's first Dance Camp! Classes for beginners to advanced, preschool to adult. Ballet, jazz, tap and Hip-Hop will be offered. Drama classesThe Park District's recreational drama program provides acting classes for students in grades K - Adult. Two 8-week sessions will be scheduled: Session I (September 10 - November 3); Session II (January 14 - March 8). Students will learn fundamentals of acting, including character development, vocal technique and improvisational skills through preparation and performance of monologues and/or scenes. Classes culminate in a presentation for family and friends.
