Phase one is expected to take approximately two to three months with completion of the first phase expected July 30th. “The GPS technology saves us time and money,” said Rick Anderson, Director of Golf. “It allows the crews to see the plans as they work to sculpt this signature golf course.” Residents may view the concept plans for the course at Scovill Golf Course. The course is designed to be family friendly, and includes a First Tee Learning Center where children can learn life skills while they learn golf. “This is a tremendous opportunity to engage our children, and teach them life lessons while they have fun,” said Anderson. The estimated completion date for the Raymond Floyd signature course is spring/summer of 2006. Funds from the property transaction with Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) will fund the project. In addition, proceeds will also be used by the Decatur Park District to fund “Parks & Recreation 2010,” an initiative to improve neighborhood and community parks. “This initiative truly is an Opportunity of a Generation,” said Bill Clevenger, Executive Director, Decatur Park District. “We believe the community’s voice of support is the catalyst of great things to come in Decatur’s future.” Projects in this Parks and Recreation 2010 initiative include: Underway:
