Perform! Once On This Island Tickets Now On Sale

Tickets for Perform’s Once On This Island are now on sale. With a poignant story and catchy Caribbean-flavored score, this musical garnered 8 Tony nominations during its Broadway run. Public and school performances are scheduled for March 9 – 13. Tickets are $7 for reserved seating at the Decatur Civic Center Theater. To purchase your tickets you may visit the Decatur Park District Administrative Office (620 E. Riverside Ave.), online, or call 422-5911.

Scovill Zoo Volunteer Training

If you enjoy working with animals and kids, an exciting volunteer opportunity awaits you at Scovill Zoo. Training covers categories of different animals and volunteer duties. No experience required! Volunteer Training classes will be held on Wednesdays, February 22 – March 28 from 9 a.m. – noon at Scovill Zoo. Call Misty at 421-7435 for more information.

Youth Baseball/Softball Sign-Ups

The Decatur Park District offers baseball and softball leagues for boys aged 4 – 14 and girls aged 4 – 15 who have experience in the sport and are looking for a more competitive environment to grow into better ball players.

2012 Sign-Up Information

Parent/guardian must accompany youth to registration. A copy of the player’s birth certificate is also required. A $10.00 fee will be added to registration requests after March 12. Registration ends March 23. Decatur Youth Baseball/Softball will provide shirts, hats and trophies. For more information, please call Steve Fox at the DISC at 429-3472.

Golf Demo Days at the DISC

Golfers can prepare for the spring season with Golf Demo Days at the DISC’s Indoor Golf Center. Participants can try out the latest golf clubs and see the newest accessories from Titleist on February 18, PING on February 25 and Cleveland on March 3. Demo Days will be from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. except on February 25 which will be from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. The Indoor Golf Center is located on the 2nd floor of the DISC, 1295 W. Wood. New 2012 Animal Crackers Classes

Come join Scovill Zoo for new 2012 Animal Crackers Classes! Children aged 3 – 5 listen to a story, meet an animal, create a craft with their adult guests and snack on animal crackers! Classes are offered throughout the year on Saturday mornings at Scovill Zoo from 9:30 – 10:15 a.m. or 11 – 11:45 a.m. Upcoming topics include Animal Extremes (March 10) and Down on the Farm (April 14).
