Perform! Once On This Island Tickets Now On Sale

Tickets for Perform’s Once On This Island are now on sale. With a poignant story and catchy Caribbean-flavored score, this musical garnered 8 Tony nominations during its Broadway run. Public and school performances are scheduled for March 9 – 13. Tickets are $7 for reserved seating at the Decatur Civic Center Theater. To purchase your tickets you may visit the Decatur Park District Administrative Office (620 E. Riverside Ave.), online, or call 422-5911.

Scovill Zoo Volunteer Training

If you enjoy working with animals and kids, an exciting volunteer opportunity awaits you at Scovill Zoo. Training covers categories of different animals and volunteer duties. No experience required! Staley Striders Bloomington AAU Indoor Track Meet Results

This past weekend, February 10 – 12, seven Staley Striders student athletes participated in the AAU Indoor National Track Meet in Bloomington, Illinois. Haley Rager received 3rd place in the girls 1500m racewalk (11:53.12), Kelsey Cleary earned 3rd place in the girls 1500m run (5:32.54), the girls 4×4 relay team placed 3rd (5:48.30), and Beau Marquis received 3rd place in the boys 3000m run (12:21.21) and the pentathlon for his high jump, long jump, 55H, shot put and 1000m run. The club earned a total of 17 medals. Results for all the Staley Striders participants appear below.

Youth Baseball/Softball Sign-Ups

The Decatur Park District offers baseball and softball leagues for boys aged 4 – 14 and girls aged 4 – 15 who have experience in the sport and are looking for a more competitive environment to grow into better ball players.

2012 Sign-Up Information

Parent/guardian must accompany youth to registration. A copy of the player’s birth certificate is also required. A $10.00 fee will be added to registration requests after March 12. Golf Demo Days at the DISC

Golfers can prepare for the spring season with Golf Demo Days at the DISC’s Indoor Golf Center. Participants can try out the latest golf clubs and see the newest accessories from Titleist on February 18, PING on February 25 and Cleveland on March 3. Demo Days will be from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. except on February 25 which will be from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. The Indoor Golf Center is located on the 2nd floor of the DISC, 1295 W. Wood. New 2012 Animal Crackers Classes

Come join Scovill Zoo for new 2012 Animal Crackers Classes! Children aged 3 – 5 listen to a story, meet an animal, create a craft with their adult guests and snack on animal crackers! Classes are offered throughout the year on Saturday mornings at Scovill Zoo from 9:30 – 10:15 a.m. or 11 – 11:45 a.m. Upcoming topics include Animal Extremes (March 10) and Down on the Farm (April 14). Adult and High School Indoor Soccer Leagues

The Decatur Park District is now accepting teams for the winter High School and Adult Indoor Soccer Leagues at the DISC. Participants can take part in the 7-week soccer leagues beginning the week of January 16. Teams will play two 24-minute halves with 5 players and a goalie on a full field. The deadline to sign up a team (no individual sign-ups accepted) is January 2. An additional $10 will be charged for each non-resident player with a $50 maximum. There will also be an Adult Open Play League where adult soccer players can enjoy casual matches. This is a 7-week session starting January 16.
