Support the Arts!

Children grow, learn and benefit from the arts, from recreation and from play! The Decatur Park District recognizes that financial assistance may be required for some individuals to participate in Park District activities and programs. To provide equal access to programming regardless of ability to pay, a “Fun for All” financial assistance program has been established for qualified Decatur residents. Eligibility is based upon family size and income level and is awarded without regard to race, color, religion, age, disability or national origin.

The Fun for All Scholarship program benefits from the generosity of donors who keep this program alive. If you wish to make a contribution, please mail your check to the Decatur Parks Foundation, 620 E. Riverside Ave., Decatur, IL 62521.

A professional actress/dancer who has performed on Broadway, toured nationally with A Chorus Line, and appeared in countless television commercials, Marie Jagger-Taylor has developed curricula and taught musical theatre and dance in various capacities for the past 20 years. A member of the Actors’ Equity Association, Jagger-Taylor was adjunct professor of dance at Millikin University (Decatur, IL) for 8 years and served as Director of Education for the Little Theatre on the Square (Sullivan, IL) for 10 years. In this role, she was intimately involved in all aspects of the theatre, including drama/dance instruction, sets/costumes/lighting for performances, and program syllabi for all workshops, sessions, camps and classes. At the Decatur Park District, Jagger-Taylor has been instrumental in building community interest and involvement in the arts, as she leads the Greater Decatur Chorale, the Decatur Park Singers, Young Park Singers, Perform!, Best of Summer Stock camps, and year-round dance and drama classes.  She also serves as co-host of the Decatur Park District’s “Parks at 5” weekly radio show.
